CLWRota & Medirota
eRota provides digital tools for improving the communication and collaboration of clinical teams. It provides the CLWRota service for anaesthetic departments and Medirota for surgical and medical groups.
Lemberg's first collaboration with eRota, which started in 2010, focussed on providing a basic read-only version of CLWRota's rostering tools on iPhones to allow clinicians and administrative staff to gain easy access to department rotas to keep abreast of changes in planned activity.
The success of the project led to the widespread use of the CLWRota iPhone application in the anaesthetic departments of the UK's National Health Service, and in 2015 led to a new project between Lemberg and eRota for the development of iOS and Android applications suitable for both the CLWRota and Medirta services.
The new applications are required to load large amounts of calendrical information quickly, to be able to make incremental updates following changes, and to provide an uncluttered and responsive user interface on both iOS and Android. Additionally the applications are required to cache data for effective offline operation as network access within hospitals is often limited. Additional aspects of the applications include providing different views depending on the role of the user and the ability to turn on or disable functionality based on department settings.
The success of this collaboration between Lemberg and eRota has meant that the key aim of achieving better collaboration through better communication in departments is increasingly being achieved, and is an important factor in the continued growth of eRota's services which now cover over 10,000 clinicians.
