HTML5 Mobile WebApp

Lemberg has produced a new HTML5 web retail application for ExactMobi. The purpose of this application is to let customers to easily buy or reserve products using WebKit enabled mobile browsers such as those on the iPhone, iPad and Android devices. It was created using the WebApp framework we wrote about on our blog. Interaction, visual design and iconography for this application were provided by a renowned mobile design agency Alex Komarov Inc.

You can see the application yourself by visiting http://thewinecabinet.mobi. To get the full effect please visit it with your mobile device, but you can also access it using WebKit enabled browsers such as Google’s Chrome or Apple’s Safari.

This sleek application has many exciting features, normally restricted to dedicated applications but now available through web based HTML WebApps. The Wine Cabinet app features the following:


  • Product search

    This screen allows the customer to search the wine catalogue by colour, price, style, region or any other category the retailer specifies. As the customer changes their search criteria they can see how many wines match them. When satisfied they can click 'view products' to see a full detailed list of wines. All the search parameters are configurable through the backend application provided to the retailer.


  • Detailed product description

    On this screen, the customer can see all the information about a wine: its title, image, price, any discount, stock availability, a detailed description and more. The customer can also add wines to their WishList, share the wine information on their Facebook page or add it to their shopping cart.


  • Shopping cart

    The shopping cart screen lets the customer to view all the wines they have put in it, change their quantity or remove them altogether. It also lets them proceed to checkout and notifies the customer if there are any changes in the price, discount or availability of their selected wines.


  • Promotion and discounts

    Here the customer can view all the promotions and discounts available in the store, and keep an eye on deals and bargains. It also allows users to get detailed information on promotions and coupon codes, as well as being able to add the items sale items to their WishList.


  • What's new

    This screen shows the customers newly available wines. The retailer can manage what wines appear here from the backend.


  • Featured products

    The wines with the best or highest ratings are listed in this section.


  • Recommended products

    Registered customers will be able to see wine recommendations automatically generated from their order history. This lets customers explore new wines, and should increase sales for the retailer.


  • WishList

    Here registered and logged in customers can view the wines and promotions they have added to their WishList. This lets them save wines for later, and should help drive sales by reminding customers of wines that they were interested in but could perhaps not afford at the time.


  • Opening hours and locations

    This screen gives the location of the nearest physical wine stores, as well as their opening hours.


  • Invite a friend

    Here registered customers can invite their friends to join the online store, for which they will receive a discount as an inducement.


  • Facebook sign-on

    This page lets customer attach their Wine Cabinet account to their Facebook account.


  • Facebook share button

    Customers can use this button to share a wine with their contacts via Facebook, where it will be published in their newsfeed and visible to their friends.
